BG: #2 Brebeuf handles #3 Carmel, 150-157

Second-ranked Brebeuf shot a 150 May 6 to defeat No. 3 host Carmel by seven strokes in a boys golf dual match at Woodland Country Club.

Brebeuf’s medalist-winning 36 from Wil Pahud paced the Braves to their second victory over the Greyhounds in three days. Brebeuf shot an 18-hole 314 at the Crooked Stick Invitational, one shot better than No. 7 runner-up Hamilton Southeastern and three better than third-place Carmel.

“The conditions were near perfect to play in – the course was in great shape,” said Carmel coach Chad Carr, who saw three of his four scoring starters shoot 39s. “We just didn’t execute at various times. Some players struggled on the first few holes and tried to bring it back but ran out of holes.

“We hope to get more consistency as the season moves on.”

Brebeuf coach Ryan Brammer, who got sub-40s from all four of his scoring starters, looks forward to the Braves battling the Greyhounds.

“Brebeuf and Carmel is always a great golf match wherever it occurs,” Brammer said. “The golf on the course is at a high level, and the players enjoy competing against each other.”

Next up for the Braves is their own Brebeuf Invitational at Wood Wind May 8, and Carmel will be one of the participants.
